FO Friday 156

Hi everyone. Happy Friday. I hope all is well with you today. Unfortunately, nothing new to share. I did finish the witch cross stitch square I showed Wednesday, but had to move the cloth in the frame so now it isn't in a space to take a picture of it.

Work is keeping me busy, as mentioned, as I'm working toward the Vista Fiber Fiesta October 12-13. It's amazing to dye more colors than just purple. I still love purple, but after a month and a half of it, let me tell you, it's magic to my eyes to see multiple colors.

That's it for me. I hope you all have a great weekend. We're going to be hanging out at home, so hopefully I can find the knitting bug and have him bite me again.

Work in Progress Wednesdasy 163

Hi everyone. Happy hump day. I hope all is well. Thank you for all the awesome comments regarding Yarnbox. I'll have more posts about it coming soon (I really promise despite being a huge blog flake lately).

I have been in a knitting funk lately, which isn't good since I have to finish a sample shawl for my fiber show coming up the 12-13th of October. I just can't find my mojo and I'm sure breaking my needle last time I worked on it didn't help. I've been considering starting a fun whatever project that will fly off the needles like fingerless gloves or a hat, but then realize, if I spend all my time doing that, I REALLY won't have enough time to finish the shawl. Sigh.

Instead I've been having a GREAT time with the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's Halloween Sampler. It's pretty much what I've been working on every night. Isn't it adorable so far? I've done the first three squares and then am working backward on the 2nd row because I don't want to move my Q snap frame until I have to. It will spell Halloween when it is finished. And yes, that IS a Halloween themed needle minder!

Speaking of Halloween, Friday I will be releasing the October '13 colorway of the month. I am SOOO excited for it, that I couldn't help myself. For a sneak peek, head over to my Instagram account (@candyskein). Not only did I post a glimpse (or two) of the new color, I'm also taking preorders that will ship Friday morning!

That's it for me today. Have a great rest of your week.

FO Friday 155- Secret Project Revealed!

Happy Friday! Today is a special FO for me, as I finally get to talk about my (finished) secret project I've been working on the past few months. Some of you may have seen the news a few days ago on either the Candy Skein Addicts Ravelry group, or my Instagram account, but thought I would share it here, especially since I plan to have more posts about the process.

I am so so so excited this day is finally here. Candy Skein Savory Fingering, which is new to the CS line, is in the September shipment of Yarnbox.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Yarnbox, they are a subscription box that is delivered each month (they have several different subscription plans available). You don’t know what yarn you will be receiving each box, so it’s super exciting! Each box contains three skeins of the yarn, patterns, candy and sometimes even coupons for the yarn in which you received.

Here is a picture of the yarn that you could receive in your box. One the left is new colorway, Black Currant, and on the right is Grape Soda.

Savory Fingering will be available soon on the website in these colors, along with tons of the usual suspects. It is a 80% merino superwash/20% nylon that has an unbelievable bounce and ply. In my opinion the ply is very close to MadTosh Sock. Each skein is 400 yards and will be $22 each.

I just wanted to thank you all for being so patient over the past few months while I had to stay quiet about this, and also for understanding when the shipments were a little slower, the site not fully stocked, the monthly colorway a little late this month and mostly my posts being speratic here, while I tried to get the Yarnbox order out the door.

So thank you! To everyone here for being so kind with lovely comments and still hanging in there despite not giving you much.

As mentioned earlier, I will have more posts soon about the process of dyeing a VERY large amount of yarn in a very small time.

Work in Progress Wednesday 162

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay. I can't seem to keep track of what day it is lately and to top it all off, yesterday was my husband's birthday and we didn't get in until late. I'm going to try and be better,  I promise.

FO Friday 154

Hi everyone! Happy Friday. I hope all is well with you. I don't have a FO to share today, but I do have some fun news. Unfortunately it isn't my larger news (which I get to share next week) regarding the secret project I worked on all summer, but it is still exciting.

A few days ago, the Deep Fall issue of Knitty was released. I'm happy to announce a gorgeous sock pattern, Ridley, by the lovely and talented Yavanna Reynolds is in the new issue using Candy Skein Juicy Sport. You can also see Yavanna's Ridley project page with more photos here.

This week I've added four new colors to Juicy Sport on the website and in the next few weeks there will be even more colorways available.

And these are the skeins I currently have available and ready to ship.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great weekend!

Work in Progress Wednesday 161

Hi everyone! I hope all is well this week with you. After taking last week off, I'm back to work again. It's funny when you take time away from work that you love. Getting back to it gives you a new refreshing take. I had a great day of dyeing yesterday and got so much done. It was really rewarding.

I also had time to work on the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery Halloween Sampler. I forget if I've shown this before, but isn't it awesome? I still have a bunch of the border to do, but after seeing the first few days that were sent this week, I had to start! Each square has a letter (9 squares in total) that will spell Halloween. I love working on this! Also, how amazing is my needle holder in the upper left corner?!? Awesome, right?

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a great rest of the week. Tonight we are seeing Neko Case in concert which I am SOO excited about. She's one of my favorite singers and I hope it's a great show.

Work in Progress Wednesday 160

Hi everyone. Happy Hump day. With the holiday here in the US Monday, I almost forgot it was Wednesday! Crazy. This week is flying by and unfortunately it's the week I decided to deem my "vacation" week. What do I do on my "vacation"?

I paint my craft room (after I did some work). Am I insane? The fun thing is, because it's my craft room I'm REALLY excited about it. This picture isn't a great representation of what the true color is. It's more of a sky blue. The color is actually called "Electra". Cool, right? The only thing that ruined it was the paint guy at Home Depot said "Yeah, like Carmen, right?" Where the nerd in me was picturing Electra from Daredevil. HA!

Have I mentioned my craft room is going to be Doctor Who themed?!? Here is my Tardis Blue wall next to the newly painted other wall. As you can see, this is very much a WIP post as the painter's tape is still up (seriously, why do I bother with that stuff. It still gets paint under it). I painted the Tardis blue wall awhile ago (as you may remember) but didn't have time to paint the rest until now. Tuesday I finished 1 1/2 walls, so only 1 1/2 left! Unfortunately, I have to move my HUUUUGGGEEEE work table to do one, along with my sewing cabinet to do one wall, and the other I have to move a bed and nightstand. Bleh. Now you can see why I painted this wall today. All I had to move was my chest full of yarn (which probably weighs a good 75 lbs it seems). Once I get the painting done, new blinds/drapes and some pictures up, I'll show you more of it! Don't the colors look great with the door/floor??!! I'm totally in love with how it's turning out.

I hope to start my next knitting project this week too. I'll be making Plume by Lisa Mutch with these two colors. The one on the left is Black Licorice and the one on the right is Cinnamon Bear, both Yummy fingering. I can't wait to get started! I actually did start it last Friday, but I was away from home and forgot stitch markers. I tried thole straw wrapper thing, but it just wasn't working out. It was too fiddly since it was just the start. I'm making it as a sample for my booth for next month's Vista Fiber Fiesta in Vista, CA. I better get a move on!

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week!

Candy Skein: September colorway, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

August 2013 colorway- Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich!

Available now through September 30th!

As the calendar rolls into September and we say goodbye to the summer and beach days, it’s time to say hello to fresh pens and pencils, binders and lunch boxes. I’ve always loved this time of year, despite being out of school for some time. I still walk the aisle of the local stores, excited to see the new supplies on the market. I can never turn down a good deal on school supplies! Another part of it is to see all the “kid approved” food on sale at the grocery stores, making me feel young again. I think back to the days when my mom would pack my lunch, most times a PB & J sandwich on white Wonder bread, chips, a cookie and drink box. Sometimes I miss those days.

That’s why I picked Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich as the September 2013 colorway! This awesome yarn is kettle dyed in two different layers of  nutty brown for the PB, a luscious pink for the J and a little white for the bread that will make any project pop! It would be perfect for any fingering weight project.

Fiber content: 75% Merino Wool, 25% Nylon Superwash
