Work in Progress Wednesday 155

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going good! I stole a few minutes this weekend between working to actually knit! Crazy, right!?!?!?! So I actually have something to share with you.

I think you may remember me mentioning a few weeks ago that I was going to start Elfe by Astrid Schramm. I couldn't decide on my colors so I went back and forth and even asked my Candy Skein Ravelry group. I finally decided on Grape Soda, as I'm using Candy Skein Yummy fingering. Then I thought I was going to use Foil Wrapper, but the Sugar Snap Pea kept pulling me toward it....

So I picked these two, Grape Soda and Sugar Snap Pea in Candy Skein Yummy fingering. This picture is really closely accurate for the color, and the pics below aren't.

This is how far I got. I haven't been able to work on it since, but I'm already half way through the sleeve increases, and two green stripes in. I LOVE it so far and I have to say the pattern is amazingly fun and easy. I see myself making a ton of these in different colors (and solids) if it fits good.

I'm trying to make the stripes as jogless as possible and I think it doesn't look too bad. This is the first one and the second looks even better!

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday!

Candy Skein August '13 colorway- Blue Hawaiian

August 2013 colorway- Blue Hawaiian!

Available now through August 31st!

As the summer comes to a close, I try to hold onto the dream of a vacation on the white sand beaches and gorgeous ocean water of the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, I'm not lucky enough to visit this year. The closest I can get is to gaze into my ice cold glass that glows the colors of the Hawaiian ocean water from a mix Blue Curacao liqueur and rum (among a few other things).

That's why I picked Blue Hawaiian as the August 2013 colorway! This awesome yarn is kettle dyed in three different layers of aqua/teal that gives off an ombre affect that will make any project pop! It would be perfect for any fingering weight project.

DISCLAIMER: This is a very hard color to photograph. It is a bit brighter and more saturated than in the picture.

Colorway: Blue Hawaiian
Fiber content: 75% Merino Wool, 25% Nylon Superwash
Weight: Fingering Weight
Yardage: 465 yards
Unit Weight: 100 grams
Care: Machine wash/Tumble dry low

FO Friday 148

Hi everyone! I hope all is well. Thank you so much for the well wishes on Wednesday. The meds are doing their jobs. I just need to hold out on getting the tooth removed until at least the end of next week when I finish half of the big job I'm working on. What fun things to look forward to! ;) The positive spin I'm putting on the whole thing as at least I'll be forced to take a break and rest a little bit.

This weekend is more work, but hope to at least do a few fun things. I haven't crafted at all in the past few weeks, so I hope to do something. Even the nights I'm not working I'm too tired to even think about picking something up. It just seems like a chore, right? So, hopefully that gets resolved this weekend.

I have, however, been reading a bit! Luckily I can read while I reskein thanks to my Nook! I'm almost finished with Sarah Dessen's (one of my favorite YA authors) newest book, The Moon and More. It's so good (so far), and I have a little under 100 pages left. Next up on the reading front is to finish Clockwork Angel by Cassandre Clare. I started it awhile ago, and while it was great, I put it down to read Neil Gaiman's new book after I went to the signing (which was almost amazing). After that, who knows?! That's the great part of being a reader. There's so many books out there that are waiting to be read.

Don't forget, today is the last day for the Candy Skein Summer sale!

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Work in Progress 154

Hi everyone. So sorry for the very short/abrupt FO Friday this past week. I've been slammed with work and have been in terrible pain. Remember how the weekend before I thought I had the flu and my shoulder hurt? Well, I found out why! I have a abscess wisdom tooth and I need to get it pulled. :( I can't even explain to you how much I'm dreading that. I'm on antibiotics and pain killers which have really helped. The pain is now manageable and the swelling is down. Now I have to find the time to get the tooth pulled. I guess I should be so lucky to have all four of my wisdom teeth up until this point. I'm on the road to recovery (until I get the tooth pulled that is).

Since I've been working so much, I haven't had a chance to do much else (other than work), so I don't have a WIPW to share. I hope to next week, as maybe I'll have a few moments to relax and work on something.

I did want to share that I'm having a Candy Skein Summer sale that starts today and runs until the end of Friday! Just use code Summer Candy to receive 15% off your total purchase. This code only works on in stock items.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday!

Work in Progress Wednesday 153

Hi everyone. I hope you've had a good week so far and had a nice weekend. It's been a pretty crazy week for me since I last talked with you. I hurt my arm (pulled a muscle or something in it while working), have worked every day the past week (the week days working 14+ hour days) and then came down with the flu on Saturday night. Fun, right? Not so much. Luckily, I was able to rest my arm a little on Saturday and the flu seems to be almost gone. I'm just more tired than anything.

Unfortunately, I haven't touched a single craft since my last Wednesday post, as I just have no time. I even WANT to, but alas, it won't happen for awhile. Instead, I'm spending my time with all of this...

What is all of that you ask? Why it's NINE HUNDRED skeins of yarn....let that sink in. NINE HUNDRED, and that's not all of it! ::headdesk:: I won't be able to share much more than this until a few months from now, but I'll be sure to when I can. Just think of this picture when I don't have a WIPW or FO Friday to share for the next few weeks. ;)

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I"ll see you back here Friday.

FO Friday 146

Hi guys! I hope everyone is doing great. I'm SO SO happy it's Friday, despite having to work all weekend.  It will still be nice to have my husband around as I haven't seen him much this week. As I mentioned in my last post, I won't have a FO, or make much progress on my WIPs in the next several weeks due to work.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Work in Progress Wednesday 152

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope you're having a great week. I wish I had a ton to share with you today, but in fact I have lost my craft mojo the past week or so. I'm not sure it went, but I've turned every rock and can't seem to find it. In the hopes I get it back, I cast on Elfe last night at one of my groups. I would show it, but I seriously cast on and did one row. There isn't much to show. What I will show is what yarn I'm using and the debate I went back and forth via my Ravelry group and Instagram.

I posted on the group needing help deciding on colors for my Elfe. The pattern calls for two different colors in the shirt, and I didn't want it too crazy, so I knew one of the colors would be Foil Wrapper (the color in the middle). I decided it would be between Grape Soda (left) and Sugar Snap Pea (right) and took it to a vote. Most agreed that while both looked good with Foil Wrapper, Sugar Snap Pea won out...that was until I started making mini skeins last weekend. The two colors happened to be sitting next to each other. The first thing that popped into my head? SLYTHERIN!!!!!!!! :O

Now you see, some of you might say "so what? No biggie", but I don't think I could wear (or own) a Slytherin colored shirt (and in person they are VERY close to the silver and green of the house colors), as I am a Ravenclaw...this is where some of you think I'm bat shit crazy, but that's okay! I know some of you totally get what I mean and agree that it would just be wrong on so many levels. So back to Grape Soda and Foil Wrapper I went, which I'm good with. I don't think they pop like the other two do, but that's okay. At least I won't feel wrong when wearing (or knitting) it.

So that brings me to today, or when you're reading this, I guess yesterday. I cast on with the Grape Soda today (yep, that's right. I threw all caution to the wind and didn't even swatch! Did I mention I have zero craftiness right now and am just trying to get my mojo back?) The great thing is, someone (Maria, Kiwiria on Ravelry) already made this pattern with Yummy fingering so I decided I'm kinda safe. Her's is pretty fantastic after all. We'll see how it goes.

So that's my tale for today. Hopefully I'll have more to show you next week, but I will say I will be terribly busy for the next two months and won't have much time to breathe, let alone knit, but that's all I'm going to say about that. It's a secret I can share in due time.

Now, onto WIPW! Oh yes, and I apologize for the late FO Friday last week. I lost track of my days with the holiday and all!

Work in Progress Wednesday 151

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope those in Canada had a great (and safe) Canada Day on the 1st! As a hockey fan, it was odd not to have free agency start on Canada Day.

As you can see, not much knitting has happened on my end of things. Not much crafting for that matter! I didn't have time while in Los Angeles (we had a great time and Neil Gaiman is so funny and charming!) and since I've had to hit the ground running at work. This is the Hermione's Everyday Socks in a new Candy Skein yarn, Savory Fingering, which is a 80/20 blend.

Speaking of, I'm making a new set of mini skeins featuring 7 of Candy Skein's new colorways: Watermelon, Foil Wrapper, Poppy Seed, Bananas Foster, Tardis Tart, Sugar Snap Pea and Grape Soda. The sets will be available for sale this weekend and will start shipping Monday!

For those of you in the US, have a fun and safe 4th of July!!!! See you Friday!
